The Beginning

Santa Rita Church of the Nazarene has been in existence since the first Sunday in January 2015. After much consideration, research and prayer the Arizona District of the Church of the Nazarene in conjunction with the Oro Valley Church of the Nazarene agreed to give support and encouragement in the launch of a new Nazarene church in Sahuarita/Green Valley during the early part of 2014.

The vision to plant a church in this area began with a small group fellowship of 4 couples living in Green Valley who were a part of the Oro Valley church. As the dream began to grow they presented their vision to the leadership of both the Oro Valley Nazarene church and the District. With the provision of a facility to meet in, thanks to the graciousness of the Seventh Day Adventist congregation, and the faithful support of the amazingly dedicated “core group”, the fledgling church was launched and is flourishing with the Lord’s help and blessing.

The goal of the church by commission of the district leadership is to establish a vibrant and impactful, multi-generational church in this quickly expanding community. Our desire is to represent the love of Christ, the life-transforming wisdom of God’s Word and the hope of His Kingdom in this community.  Our prayer is that by God working in and through us we might meet the needs of all age groups living around us.

Ministry Objectives

We believe the church should be a “soul saving station and a healing center”; our firm conviction is that the following should be a normal part of the life of any church:

The following objectives are the basis of all decision-making processes and the focal points of prayer for the Santa Rita Church of the Nazarene.

  • That God would bring salvation and transformation to the lives of many. (2 Cor. 6:2, Heb. 2:10, Rev. 7:10b)

  • That God will give us an "Open Heaven" that we might see a mighty moving of the Holy Spirit demonstrated in signs, wonders, salvation and answered prayer. (Daniel 10:2-14, Acts 4:24)

  • That God will draw people to the church – both young families and seniors. (Ps. 107:2-3 , John 6:44-45)

  • That God will help us have inspiration, creativity and wisdom as to how to span the multi-generational needs and desires of the people to whom we are called to minister. (Pro. 3:5-6, James 1:5-6, Col. 1:9-10, Eph. 1:17-18, Ps. 89:1)

  • That God will help us to choose ministries that will be relevant and life changing for the people (of all ages) in our area. (1 Cor. 3:9-13)

  • That God will expand our vision and that we might be able to do great and mighty things by His overcoming power. (Eph. 3:20- 21, 2 Cor. 6:2, Heb. 2:10, Acts 4:24)

  • That God will give us the gifting and the energy to do the work He has called us to do. (Eph. 3:16, Phil. 4:13)

  • That God will bring laborers into the harvest field. (Mat. 9:37-38)

  • That we will be led of the Spirit in everything. (Gal. 5:16, 25, Rom. 8:5, 14, 26)

  • That God will anoint and bless our efforts to build his Kingdom in this area. (Ps. 90:17, Ps. 89:20b-21, Rom. 15:29)

  • That God will protect us from the snares, distractions, and hindrances of the enemy. (2 Cor. 10:3-6, Ps. 89:22, Is. 54:17)

May you feel the heartbeat of our congregation and join with us in prayer for the growth and development of the ministry of Santa Rita Church of the Nazarene. We welcome you to join us in building God’s Kingdom in this area whether through prayer, a visit, or becoming a part of the family.

We want our history to be His story!!!
